I'm back.....

I realize that my last entry was in March after the LA Marathon. I haven't been keeping up with my posts but I have been running. I was having a hard time with my knee but after physical therapy, ice & stretching, easy runs, a cool looking knee brace and giving in to the hype and purchasing minimilist 5 finger shoes, I am (fingers crossed) better.

In April I took a road trip to San Diego with a few of my friends and endulged in so. cal weather, lots and lots of fondue, and I took advantage of the beautiful scenery and ran a half marathon. La Jolla Half Marathon. Around this time I was still recovering from whatever was going on with my knee, but it ended up being a beautiful run. There were a few hard spots such as trying to run up a really scary hiking trail (see elevation map), but running alongside of the pacific ocean made it worthwhile.

July was fantastic. I spent some time in Hawaii and I did alot of running!!! Early morning runs along Waikiki Beach, up hiking trails and my favorite "I am so lost" runs. I definitely saw a lot of Hawaii while I was running. I also took part of a 8K fun run in Honolulu. The Coconut Chase 8K took place on Ala Moana Beach Park aka Magic Island. The races was small, and had horrible post race foods (chocolate cookies and powdered donuts) but it was for a good cause, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. aannndddd the runners were encouraged to wear coconut bras and hula skirts. I snapped this picture of some cute kids finishing an 8k race. A fun run indeed.....

I've had a nice, relaxing, "run because its fun summer" but now I'm starting to get back into the swing of things. In a little about a month I'll be running the Nike Women's Full Marathon so I have to get back into shape. I'm actually looking forward to running 26.2 miles. I think if I can handle running in the worst rain LA has ever seen, I'll be okay running in SF.
