jogging and moving

Things have been busy around here. I haven't had much time to post or do much of anything. I'm in the process of packing, moving and dealing with overwhelming chaos.

First of all, it's amazing how much clutter and junk we accumulate. I've only been in this apartment for a  year and half and I have more unnecessary things that I can deal with. I'm not sentimental and have no problem throwing stuff out,  it's just stressful to clean out a drawer and see endless amount of useless things.

secondly, I hate unpacking. I'm ok with packing stuff up and I've developed a system to make it efficient. But I HATE unpacking. I'm not looking forward to it.

In the last few days, I've been trying to keep up with my some-what running schedule. But since the half marathon last Saturday (review to come!) I have had a little tightness in the back of my knee/ thigh so I have been running a lot slower than I'd like to. I've also been "thinking" about stretching, which I haven't gotten around to yet.

runners emotions: jealousy, sad and excitement

I've been taking it easy this week with a bunch of easy runs because 1) my knee is feeling very sore and achy and 2) I'm running a half marathon this weekend.

I have to admit that I was VERY sad and jealous that I didn't run the LA Marathon on Sunday.

I made the decision to run Surf City back in October instead of LA because of financial reasons, so I can't really be upset about it but I really wished the situation was different and I could have ran both. Oh well, I'll start saving now for next year.

I have been in a little running slump lately (probably because of my knee, not running LA, and general life blues) but hopefully running this half marathon will cheer me up/ reignite my love for running and get me in the mood to start training for a PR (I'm thinking the CA Classic in May).

I'm sure it will be a great race because….
1) It's a TRAIL run. which means we get to run through dirt, hills and nature. My absolute favorite kinda run. I've never raced on trails just my usual Saturday trail runs.
2) I heard the post-race festivities are awesome! Whole Foods has a booth setup! Woah!
3) I also heard there are tons of freebies and giveaways! Ekkk! exciting :)
4) It's a spring race. Perfect running weather

adventure run and a slow connection

I haven't been doing a good job of documenting my workouts lately.

Wednesday: 7 miles
Thursday: Hill repeat 10X + 3 PM miles
Friday: 7 miles

I decided to only take one rest day a week, so I added an easy 7 miles on Wednesday. I don't feel too warn out this week so I'm thinking of doing it for a few more weeks.

I've also tried to incorporate some pushups and squats. Thursday I did 100 pushups/ squats and some bicep curls.
----------------------------------
Last night I went to Road Runners Sports Adventure Run. The run started at 6:30pm and the idea was to run to different destination points on a map and gather raffle tickets in 60 minutes. There were a total of 6 locations and they were pretty close to the store.

For some reason I thought we were suppose to gather clues and figure out stuff in order to get the ticket. No, just run/ walk/ jog over there.

This was the first Adventure run at this RRS location. There were only a handful of people and volunteers. Because it was the first time, it was a little disorganized. For example, we couldn't find the volunteer handing out tickets at one location, apparently he was in a "hard to see area near a part" ?? OK, I think it should have been more specific like "at the corner or X/Y" or "near the swings",

After the run, there were a few giveaways. The flyer said a total of 3,000$ in giveaways. HAHA NOT THE CASE. There were a few gift certificates to an italian restaurant, gym, 3 pairs of shoes and 3 pairs of tech socks.

Overall it was fun. It wasn't the best time ever but I would consider doing it again.

Pictures to come soon. The internet is being sssslllloooowwww and I'm having a hard time uploading.

Any local store that puts on a good show?

Does your internet suck too?

How many rest days do you normally take off from woking out?

opening day

The Galaxy 2013 season started on Sunday 3/3/13.  The game was at 2 but we got there pretty early to hang out with our friends. A friend of ours gave us a free parking pass. I was really excited when I found out it was for valet parking. I had never parked valet before.

We dropped the car off and then walked up a "red carpet" towards the stadium. no lines!! Pretty sweet.

The Galaxy hosted Chicago Fire. McGee scored 3 goals ( aka a hat trick) and Keane scored another goal for a 4-0 win. A great way to start the new season.

------------------------------
I took Saturday and Sunday off from running. I went on a slow jog on Friday and it was really hard on my chest because of the cold.

I'm still a little congested but this morning I felt 100% better, so I did 10 easy, slow miles.

How long does it usually take for you to get over a cold? illness?

Ever parked valet or VIP?
